Mmmm... Autumn. A time of year when a change in weather often finds us yearning for a change to our food menu.
Around here, apple is the unofficial fruit of the harvest season. Apple cider is served hot and cold at local fall fairs. Many school trips are organized for children to pick these delicious treats from the trees.
Our kids (See picture link below)love riding on the tractor-pulled wagon, heading out to the orchard to pick these rosy red fruits("Can I eat one now? Pleeeeeeeeeez?").
But what about mango?
In the Phillippines, our favourite treat, mango fruit is actually harvested in early summer (May to July). But thanks to a natural drying process, tasty Phillippine 7D Dried Mango (the best in the world!) can be enjoyed all year round.
And you don't need to learn how to cut them efficiently! (although if you like mango a lot like we do, you try... http://www.wikihow.com/Cut-a-Mango)
A friend of mine from Guyana recounted a childhood story about how his buddies and he would pick a bucket of ripe mangoes and sit eating the sweet fruit, feeding the skins to the local cows so mother wouldn't find out why they weren't hungry at supper.
Kids love fruit all over the world.
Actually, the 7D Dried Mangoes we ship throughout the US and Canada (and now UK!) are often eaten by kids. They are great as a snack due to how simple the dried slices are to handle and the natural goodness they hold.
As Rebecca (a mom and a 7D mango lover) added... "Robbie (my son) is addicted to the mangoes and as a busy mom I like that Rob (Teenager!!) can have real fruit without the fuss of PEELing and preparing them in the morning for his school lunch."
Healthy and sweet? We think that makes for a fabulous, fall fruit!
Best Wishes,
