I really wasn't that way as much in school but as a Mom, nothing gives me shivers of joy like having a strategically stocked pantry, and triumphantly pulling out the right ingredient or foodstuff at a time that it is almost impossible to venture out to the grocery store. Come rain, snow, sleet or hail, Mom's ready for any neighborhood lock down.
Like many Moms, I also keep a stash of goodies in a back room of ready to go gifts.

Growing up, I watched my Mom do the same thing with Christmas gifts. She would pick little treasures up throughout the year, thinking of special people while in Florida for Spring Break or road tripping in the summer or while at a fall craft festival. By the time Christmas came, her shopping list was down to a neatly manageable few items.
Of course, there were funny moments too when Mom couldn't remember where she stashed that unique item bought months ago and we would end up with an extra, unwrapped gift later Christmas morning. I am laughing with her now having found myself scratching my head wondering where that special book I bought strategically at the fall book fair went or where I hid the talking doll my daughter has been asking for since last Christmas and I bought on sale in July.
As always I promised myself last December 26th to be even better prepared for gift giving this year. So this reminder is not just for you but also for me!
